The Republican administration is having to borrow money from federal retirement funds so it can avoid defaulting on the interest owed on the national debt. The promise is that the amounts taken will be paid back with the appropriate interest in a few months.
So not only are we spending the Social Security surplus on a bunch of useless crap like the missile defense shield, we’re now borrowing money to make the payments on the money we’ve borrowed.
I guess that’s what happens when you go from “tax and spend liberals” and their budget surpluses and debt repayments, to a carefully managed conservative Republican budget.
