Sun sued Microsoft for shipping a broken proprietary version of the Java VM with Windows. They got a judgement in their favor, saying that Microsoft had a limited time to continue shipping that version of Java, and that no new Microsoft products could include it. So Microsoft either had to pay for Sun’s Java VM and ship that, or not ship Java at all.
You can guess which option Microsoft chose, can’t you? So now Sun are complaining and filing another lawsuit, saying Microsoft should be required to license and ship their Java VM.
Well, I’m with Microsoft on this one. I don’t see any justification for requiring them to ship another company’s proprietary product at cost to them.
