Honest communication

Two separate incidents, hours apart:

“I’m in a really bad mood right now because someone destroyed one of our databases, so I don’t think it would be a good idea to talk to me about your change request right now.”

“Oh, wait, I remember now—I sent you the whole thing in an e-mail this morning, didn’t I?”

Apparently both of these fall outside the usual spectrum of honesty expected in business communications.
