21 December 2003

It’s not just every OS either

Imagine: You’re a software company whose products are used for precision engineering and product development, including tracking and improving product quality. In 1997 your developers decide to hard-code an arbitrary date value to represent “end of time”. To make it even worse, they pick January 10th, 2004, and nobody in code review or QA notices until December 2003. How embarrassed would you be?
