On Tuesday, Godfrey Bloom MEP, recently elected UK Independence Party politician, was made a member of the European Parliament’s women’s rights committee. He proceeded to announce to the media:
I am here to represent Yorkshire women, who always have dinner on the table when you get home. I am going to promote men’s rights. No self-respecting small businessman with a brain in the right place would ever employ a lady of child-bearing age.”
Also, when asked what had led him to develop an interest in women’s issues, he replied I just don’t think they clean behind the fridge enough.
He has since said that it was a joke. What he said, that is, not the UK Independence Party as a whole…
