Porn, censorship, hot goth and punk chicks, got your attention yet?

Wired News carries a story about controversy in the world of SuicideGirls, the punk/goth soft porn site. Lurid allegations of squalor and abuse are floating around. It’s alleged that although the girls have journals on the site, the co-founder of the business is a rabid neocon who censors anything he disagrees with. Then again, there are others who disagree.

Meanwhile, people posting public information are having their journals deleted from myspace.com. Hmm, why does that sound familiar? Naturally, LiveJournal are also assisting by deleting the journal of sicilycat/sicilymeow/sicily11 whenever SuicideGirls complains. Shall we have a sweepstakes for how long the latest account will last?

So once again, the same lesson is being learned: freedom of the press is only enjoyed by those who own one. If you rely on someone else’s site for your journal, it may be taken away from you on a whim, and you have no recourse.
