Chris Robinson lived in multimillion-dollar luxury home in Kerikeri, New Zealand. In September 2011, the house burned to the ground. Robinson was 400km away at the time, but the insurers have refused to pay out, claiming that he rigged up a Heath-Robinson remote arson setup using a Brother inkjet printer, and triggered it remotely via the Internet.
But that’s not the weird part of the story:
Aside from the printer-ignition theory there’s blackmail and bankruptcy, and allegations of conspiracy. There’s a side-plot involving poisoned land. The IRA and a fake Irish priest make cameo appearances.
