Forbidden thoughts

The only two things I read on 9/11 about 9/11 were Salon’s Forbidden Thoughts About 9/11 and the followup Readers’ Letters. It’s a curious mixture. Some of the forbidden thoughts are praiseworthy skeptical and political ones; some display breathtaking self-centeredness and lack of compassion. I can’t help but wonder why they didn’t bother to quote Elizabeth Wurtzel: “I just felt, like, everyone was overreacting. People were going on about it. That part really annoyed me.
